Mark Wilcox


Mark WilcoxMark is a dynamic speaker and facilitator of executive conversations, who makes the most of his wide corporate and academic experience to help organisations to better engage with their people, particularly in times of great change.  He is he driving force behind the Change Capability Consulting Ltd, where he works with leading organisations on developing a clear line of sight between the strategic goals of the business and the people activities the organisation pursues. Aligning talent and business strategy to successfully transform the organisation's results is the prime focus for his consulting work.


Mark has worked for some of the world's best and biggest companies, and was until late 2005 the Director of People & Organisational Development at Sony Europe based in the Headquarters in Berlin. There he was responsible for the European Talent Management Strategy and in supporting European wide organisational change. Previously he enjoyed 20 years experience with Nestle.


On leaving school Mark took an apprenticeship in Electrical Maintenance, where his active involvement with the trade union movement opened his eyes to the world of Human Resources and led to a career change. Diagnostics and solutions for people replaced problem solving on machines.


Educated with the Open University, where he gained a BSc in Psychology, Mark extended his insight into people and teams with an MSc in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London. Having applied his specialist learning in many fields of HR Mark went on to complete an MBA with Bradford School of Management to add to strategic understanding of business. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and a member of the British Psychological Society.


In his consulting work Mark works with clients as diverse as the British Army, Microsoft, Harris, Fasthosts, Pernod Ricard, Sony Mobile, Redcats, Roche, Balfour Beatty and Bombardier as well as occasional pro bono work in the not for profit sector.  A truly internationally experienced professional, Mark shares his time between the UK and France where he has houses; has in his career lived in Germany and Sri Lanka and has completed assignments in over 20 countries across the globe.


In the past Mark has contributed to the MBA teaching at Bradford School of Management, Manchester Business School, Warwick Business School, Cranfield Business School and the International Masters in HR leadership at Bocconi Milan. He wrote the material for a change management MSc module for the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom where he also teaches on the Defence Strategic Leadership Programme.


Mark has co authored a book on Leadership and Organisational Change in collaboration with best selling management thinker and Ashridge Professor, Jonas Ridderstrale. Re Energizing the Corporation, How leaders make change happen, was published by Jossey Bass in Feb 2008. It is now available in 14 languages. Look out for a new book, commissioned by Kogan Page, to be published in 2015, Engaging Change, a people centred approach to business transformation.   Articles written by Mark have been published in CritcalEYE and his work has featured in Der Speigal, Personnel Today and People Management.
