Josh Klein is an inspirational keynote speaker. He writes, and consults on new and emerging technologies that improve people’s lives – and has tremendous fun doing it. A futurist, innovator and hacker who hacks anything that moves. He loves to take things apart and put different pieces together to produce something new and more effective.
Josh has practiced and was trained, both formally and informally, in hacking – social systems, computer networks, institutions, consumer hardware, animal behavior, the publishing industry, and most recently, corporate culture. A “hack” in the traditional engineering sense is a clever re-use of technology or systems to achieve a superior result. It’s also increasingly the most common means of innovation available to any organization or individual.
In consulting Josh focuses on bringing strategic expertise to:
Communication: Josh has deep technology expertise and broad business strategy experience – and the ability to express those issues in language anyone can understand. This knack for bridging the gap between the server closet and the boardroom has given him an edge useful to any organization looking to improve their technology strategy.
Cross-platform Integration: With 15 years experience in technology development, security, and design, Josh combines a solid understanding of the fundamental capabilities of existing platforms with the insight to create tractable strategies for emerging tech. His work with mobile and social platforms allows him to look outside of the usual silos, and his cross-disciplinary work history gives him an unusual ability to spot market opportunities.
Innovation Strategy: A decade and a half of bringing together diverse skills, insights, and technologies has led to a keen eye for how businesses in any market can leverage existing assets and emerging technology to create market-leading advantage. This ability to create practical, tangible strategy for innovation has led to dramatic advances on the part of Josh’s clients.
Most of his time is spent speaking to companies and at conferences such as World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Gadgetoff, TED, SICS, LA-IP, BIF, and Serious Play, and he has appeared on the Sundance Channel, Nova, and other programs. He also spends a significant amount of time consulting to companies large and small, such as Microsoft, Oracle, Frog Design, Nokia, Johns Hopkins, Bankinter, The United States Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and others.
Presently he is working at Frog Design as a Principle Technologist, while developing mobile/social applications, health care-related systems and other tools that improve people’s lives. He’s the author of the novel Roo’d, which was the first modern book (after Tarzan) to be ported to the iPhone.
Joshua Klein helps his global audiences discover how common opinion has shortsighted the impact and opportunity of the biggest trends we’ve all misunderstood. He has been described as “a cross-disciplinary, pattern recognising polymath who takes his greatest joy from combining the unexpected and seeing the result work in new and better ways”.
Joshua Klein is the quintessential hacker – someone who takes his greatest joy from combining the unexpected and seeing the result work in new and better ways. His innovative, entertaining and yet highly informative talks give you an insight into this mentality, from his unique viewpoint.
