Ian Thomas, African Game Ranger is a dynamic and inspiring international keynote speaker. Ian believes that business people can learn from the animal kingdom. His riveting and informative account of how lions, the only cats that hunt in teams can be compared with how teams operate within business is interlaced with humour.
Business graduate Ian Thomas is a game ranger from Africa who has studied lions at close quarters for over twenty years.
Lions form teams in order to hunt the vast herds of antelope that evolve on Africa’s savannahs. The strategy of using teams to ambush these herds is extremely successful. Individual lions and lionesses benefit from this association and the prides become extremely powerful. Ian’s presentation is based around this point.
That the success of the team is because of the individual and the success of the individual is because of the team. The “win-win” situation is the basis for successful lion prides and business teams.
A frequent guest on television and radio, Ian Thomas is the author of The Power of the Pride. He is also one of South Africa’s foremost wildlife photographers. He has featured in many local and international management magazines.
In demand in South Africa and internationally, Ian Thomas has consulted to numerous worldwide companies including IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Springbok Rugby Team, Canada Life, Sigma, Colonial, TMI, MUSE and Glynwed Metals.
Ian’s presentations, all with a distinctly African wildlife overtone, include subjects such as “Teamwork” “Strategy”, “Adapting to Change” and “Survival of the Fittest”.
He has spoken in many countries including Germany, France, England, Belgium, Holland, Australia and the USA.
“Your closing address was one of the best examples of motivational speaking I have ever heard. I say this as a speaker, and someone who has hired other guest speakers, and who has been involved in the Corporate Entertainment Industry for over 15 years. You managed to combine the timing of a professional comedian with the skills of a professional mime artist, you obviously had a complete mastery of your subject matter, but what came over above all was your passion for your subject combined with a desire to use that knowledge and passion to communicate to your audience. It was funny, riveting and inspirational all at the same time.”
Clive Panto – Speaker at Finance Directors & Catering Managers Forum aboard the Aurora (UK)

“I found your knowledge of the bush and the lions’ survival in it riveting stuff. This was a perfect hook for the more serious side of your presentation which was showing us the parallels between surviving in the wild and surviving and being successful in business as a team.”
