Claude Smadja is the Founder and President of Smadja & Associates a strategic advisory firm he founded in 2001.
Prior to creating Smadja & Associate he was the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum from January 1996 to June 2001 with the overall responsibility on the Annual Meeting in Davos, the Forum’s activities in Asia, and the yearly financial services Governor’s Meeting.
Mr. Smadja began his career as a Journalist. He served as the Director for the News and Current Affairs Department of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation. He is a member of various boards of Directors and advisory boards of International Companies. Mr. Smadja serves as the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Dubai International Finance Center. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has been Director of OpenTV Corp. since 2007. He has been a Non-executive Director of Kudelski SA since 1999 and serves as its Lead Director. He has been a Director at Edipresse SA since 1999. He serves as a member of the International Advisory Board of Korn Ferry International. He served as an Independent Director of Infosys Technologies Ltd. from October 2001 to August 2010. Mr. Smadja received a B.A. in Political Science from University of Lausanne.
With a background as a political and economic analyst and a strong experience developed, first in his 15 years media career and then at the World Economic Forum, Claude Smadja has developed an extensive experience and knowledge on the world’s economic, business and political scene and its key players, with an ability to identify and analyze emerging trends and their implications, to integrate complex issues in a global context. His activities have also led him to acquire a special expertise and extensive knowledge on the East Asia region, and to develop a solid network of relationships.
